The great Arthur Miller confronts the American dream in this dark and passionate tale. In Brooklyn, longshoreman Eddie Carbone welcomes his Sicilian cousins to the land of freedom. But when one of them falls for his beautiful niece, they discover that freedom comes at a price. Eddie’s jealous mistrust exposes a deep, unspeakable secret – one that drives him to commit the ultimate betrayal. The visionary Ivo van Hove directs this stunning production of Miller’s tragic masterpiece.
National Theatre Live brings the best of British theatre to cinema screens across the UK and around the world. With state-of-the-art filming techniques, tailored to every play, they showcase each performance as it happens, in all its glory. From close-ups that capture every flicker of emotion, to sweeping wide shots of the stage.
NT Live films their plays in front of a live theatre audience, but optimises everything for the big screen so it’s the next best thing to being there. The actors on stage deliver their performances as they normally would any other night. But to make sure audiences watching in cinema have the best seat in the house, they tailor the position of their cameras to capture each production and work closely with technical teams to make sure every element on stage such as lighting, hair and make-up look fantastic on the big screen.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! COVID PROTOCOLS.
As we raise our curtains this fall and return to live performances, your health and safety is our priority. Our goal is to ensure you can comfortably resume enjoying cultural events once again!
Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse has instituted layers of defense against COVID-19 and the safety practices for our guests, students, staff, and artists – the latest of which is a vaccination and mask requirement.
Point Park University requires all students to be vaccinated. Additionally, a university-wide mask mandate is in place.
The vaccine policy begins September 1 and will remain in effect through November 30. We will continually be monitoring this protocol along with federal, state, and local guidelines and keep you informed of any changes.
Vaccination and Masking Requirements
Guests ages 12 and older who are attending a public performance at the Pittsburgh Playhouse must be fully vaccinated with the Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine and must show proof of vaccination with their valid ticket at the time of entry. Fully vaccinated means that on the date of the performance you would have received your second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or a single dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine at least 14 days prior. Proof of vaccination must come directly from the healthcare provider that performed the vaccination. Guests may display proof on a smartphone or present a physical copy. Use of a Digital Vaccination Passport App is also acceptable.
