Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse is proud to present Breakthrough Sessions: Tomorrow's Music Today, a new concert series showcasing emerging and breakthrough artists while inviting audiences to discover original music of the creative voices shaping what’s next.
Presented as part of the Pittsburgh Playhouse's expanding live music initiative, Breakthrough Sessions will transform the Highmark Theatre into an intimate venue where artists can share new work, tell the stories behind their music, and connect directly with
audiences.
Melinda and the Night Sky is a Pittsburgh-based rock and blues band fronted by powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Melinda Colaizzi. Alongside guitarist and songwriting partner Kristian Habenicht, the band blends blues, rock, funk, and soul into a dynamic sound that draws inspiration from legendary artists like Janis Joplin and Tina Turner. A staple on WYEP's airwaves, Melinda and the Night Sky have shared the stage with renowned acts including the B.B. King Blues Band, Sue Foley, and Lez Zeppelin. Melinda is also the founder of Women Who Rock™, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing women's health research through the power of music and community.
